About me
Charles Labedz was born in Tuscumbia, Mo. He has been using computers since 1990. Started on using a IBM XT
His dad (Robert) had done some handy work for Mike Tally, a church friend, in exchange for this beast. It had a huge 10MB hard drive, 5 & 1/4 inch floppy drive, 512K RAM, and MS dos 1.0.
In addition to the hardware, Mike also showed Charles how to hack into the installed programs. Using the internal MS basic ctr-break to get into the code he would change a line here and then run the program to see the effects. there were some simple i.e. text games wildcat, craps, golf, hangman, ... and there was colossal caverns. which was only known by its advent.exe file name. In addition to these fun games there were some heavy applications like quicken and Word-star which were not basic programs.
Every so often, the applications would break so badly that re-installation of them from floppy was the only remedy. Also, whenever the latest dos upgrade became available Charles would install it, not his father. Soon his parents were chasing him away from the computer at all hours of the day and night. When the hard drive failed in 1991 or so he totally freaked. After attempted to reinstall the OS several times his determination to fix computers was set.
Rob later purchased a Intel 286 that ran Windows 1.1 and MS Dos 4.0. With the basic suite of apps and a program called BIGMOUTH an automated phone number dialer. In the movies hacking would have commenced. However in the real world Charles didn't really have much to do with BIGMOUTH. The interesting fact was that the modem on the computer could connect to the Interwebs through AOL. and JUNO. Thereafter, he proceeded to spend way too much time playing on-line games and MUD'S.
His next IT support experience came when Rob had an issue. Wherein, Rob would run out of space on his computer's hard drive and to regain some space Rob would start deleting files that he didn't recognize. As most IT people might guess, this would lead to the computer crashing back to DOS more than once. So the first time Rob reinstalled windows from 3.5 floppies and Charles watched. Thereafter, Charles remembers doing the re-installs for him.
The next beast that he brought home was a 386 DX with turbo! a funny little button that proclaimed the turbosity of the computer when depressed(didn't seem to do anything other than give the computer operator something to push) . That 386 came with windows 3.1 which was a totally different experience than 1.1 the GUI was sweeter, and networking was not quite as painful as the Win1.1 !
Charles first job at 17 was at a Gerlands Grocery store in Houston, TX with his earnings he paid for a by-mail computer programming course that came with a computer! No longer would his computing addiction gratification be required to wait for parents to let him onto their machine.
At the age of 19 Charles's family moved to Jefferson City, MO. and Charles dedicated the bulk of his time rendering 3d objects using software that came with my computer monitor's drivers. Corel, If memory serves him.
After arriving at Jefferson City, Charles soon enrolled at Lincoln University. With the declared major of CIS and programming. After years of school and working full time to provide for food and board, He graduated with his B.S. degree in CIS.
During business management class at Lincoln University Charles met Dr. David Newman. From 2007 to the present day Charles prepared technical solutions for David's Hypnotherapy practice and done component replacement repairs on David's laptops.
In 2009 Happy Heart Company joined the Labedz Design Solution's client list. A Wordpress blog with e-commerce pluggin. A custom theme and several other assorted plugins. Charles also set up the cost analysis for the products.
Feeling dissatisfied with the career opportunities Charles scouted out advancements for his skill set. while adept at acquiring novel languages and programing philosophies he realized that the relevant local situation were unaware of the mastery involved in Charles's stated skill set and that a formal declaration of mastery would be necessary. The prominent cyberwar that had been underway and publicized in Geek news (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberwarfare) prompted his interest in Info security and assurance. He noted that the varies military agencies had high bounties and higher paychecks for individuals with the info sec skill set. So after a laborious research period he enrolled at Capella University for his M.S. where he remains enrolled currently.
